Throw Out The Stinking Thinking!
I love to cook, and I love to read cookbooks. I stroll the pages of a cookbook looking for fun, tasty recipes
I have never made before but want to try.
I made Birria tacos this past weekend with a wonderfully rich and spicy red sauce. I was seeding chili
peppers, cutting onions, garlic, and tomatoes, and measuring spices. Of course, while prepping all the
ingredients, I tossed out a lot of food trash as the prep continued.
Somewhere out of the blue, I had this thought about trash. I know, right?
Why do we throw away trash? Because it is trash? Because it smells? There are countless reasons why.
We throw out garbage. Whether It is food waste or old clothes that no longer fit us, we mainly throw
away things because they no longer serve us. There it is! But there was more. And the more I thought
about trash, the more I returned to things that do not serve us well.
Many people keep the harmful trash they tell themselves daily. I am not good enough, not smart
enough, not….. whatever it is you say. I, like many people, sometimes suffer from stinking thinking. The
negative self-talk that keeps us down, stunts our creativity and makes us feel bad about ourselves. I
stopped in my tracks in the kitchen and just laughed.
Why would I keep such thinking around? Why do you? We should toss it out like the trash. It is stinking thinking that is smelly and does not serve me, or you, well. Throw it out! Sometimes human nature kicks me in the butt, and sometimes you must kick back. From now on, when I throw anything out, I will think about what I do that no longer serves me well and consider throwing it out with the trash.
